What will the world’s future hold?

This is driving me crazy. I’ve been searching for this trilogy for years. I lost it in a fire and can’t remember the name.
It’s about a future world where there is a “King” of america, but america isn’t called that anymore it’s like amerisomething. It’s about a woman who can do magic and she falls in love with a king. However, “magic” or this math you can do in ur mind is what destroyed the world basically. She turns into a lizard in the end to save her children or something. I remember that there is a declaration of independence that is in a museum, but it’s disintegrated, so it only reads part of it and they call it the “declaration of”…again..I read this a long time ago. Anybody have any idea?
I know this isn’t much, but I really want to find this book!

My Mammy and Pappy aren’t too happy with what’s going on in America. They tell me that there isn’t much of a future for America anymore now that Obama is president. I come from the conservative country land here in Dumas, Texas where morals and values don’t change and pretty much everyone is set in their own ways. In that town,where I live currently, all I ever see is meth addicts who work at Circle K,just to keep their habit going. Or old snow birds who only stay for 7 months out of the year. You are either too poor or too rich to work in this piss poor town. If this is the America we’re going to see in a few years,I sure don’t want be here. Is this what the elite of society really want after all? Or was this goal of NAFTA all along? IDK!
